“Queer feminism in Lebanon: studying the marginal”

Presented by Dima Kaedbey

In this talk, I will be presenting the framework and main points from my recently finished doctoral dissertation. I will show how queer feminism in Lebanon is interested in the shadows of mainstream feminist narratives, as it centers the stories and perspectives of marginalized communities and struggles, including working class women, migrant workers and refugees. What emerges from my framework is a non-linear conception of time that sees the past and present as closely interlinked, and a more inclusive feminist genealogy  which I begin from the 19th century and which continues to the present day.
